Senior Mechanical Engineer 

Zinc8 Energy Solutions is developing a range of energy storage products based on a novel zinc-air flow battery technology. A substantial market for these products exists in utility, commercial, industrial, remote power generation and similar applications. With powerful backing and a committed nucleus, Zinc8 is expanding its product development team to capitalize on this rare opportunity.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop mechanical designs at the system, subsystem and component level
  • Select mechanical, electro-mechanical and fluid system components 
  • Collaborate with electro-chemical and Computational Fluid Dynamics modeling specialists
  • Analyze designs using 3D modeling and FEA
  • Prepare designs suitable for prototyping and/or high volume manufacturing processes
  • Propose and investigate cost-reduction strategies
  • Identify and test appropriate materials for long life performance
  • Provide SolidWorks models/drawings, using ASME Y14.5 standards
  • Prepare plans for functional, performance and lifetime testing
  • Prepare design documentation for internal and external customers

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Ten years’ experience in mechanical design in a related field
  • Experience with prototype development and testing
  • Experience with new product introduction and transition to volume manufacturing 
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks
  • Must be fluent in English with excellent communication skills

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience with transporting solids in fluids
  • Experience in design for injection molding and die-casting processes
  • Experience in stress analysis, thermal analysis and fluid dynamics
  • Experience with electro-chemical products and processes
  • Experience in CFD
  • Experience in selecting and managing external suppliers and subcontractors
